My name is Marcus and I am a freelance sports photographer based in Chandler, AZ who created a photography business shortly after my kids began their own sports journey. I wanted to create a business unique to my community and offer services different from most photographers. I wanted to standout from the pack so I knew I had to create something unique that would set me apart.
We have all seen thousands of images from youth athletics that all mimic each other. All images of pee wee athletes are taken with camera phones from the sidelines or behind fences rendering the same image. The pictures all have the same characteristics including low quality, low resolution, missed focus, sub optimal lighting, distracting backgrounds, and the list goes on and on. This is not a knock on the family member of friend taking the pictures but rather the equipment used to capture the moment. Phones are great and offer the user a variety of features but high quality sports images is not at the top of the list.
Growing up I always would comb through ESPN the Magazine and Sports Illustrated magazines and marvel at the images in each edition. I would hang some of those images, alongside posters, in my room believing the athletes were larger than life. I would fantasize that those images could one day be me if I made it to the big leagues.
Fast forward several years working full time, raising a family, and realizing I was never close to having my picture in SI, but still marveling over those same images of new athletes.
The desire to create my own images of my athletes is what lead me to creating Colorful Candids Photography. I wanted to create professional images for the pee wee athletes similar to the idols they see on TV. I wanted to provide lasting images to families capturing the special moment that would withstand the test of time. The high quality images that I create will last a lifetime.
If you or you know someone that wants to capture a youth athlete during this special time in their lives, please email me as I would be honored to photograph your athlete. Feel free to email me with any questions.
